27 teachers from Marawi and LDS complete training in peace education

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA) – Peace mechanisms in schools and communities will now be strengthened after 27 teachers from this city and Lanao del Sur complete training in peace education.

The participants are Islamic and Arabic Language Studies (ISAL) and Peace Education Coordinators and Facilitators from the Municipal Schools Division of Marawi and Lanao del Sur 1 of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and technical – Autonomous region of Bangsamoro in Muslim Mindanao.

Elfa Ali from Bae Inomba Blo Bacarat Central Elementary School explained how the training enabled her to be an effective facilitator of peace education.

“The 3-day peace education training gave me the knowledge and skills to share peace education. It is necessary to have peace of mind within ourselves before we can share with others, ”she said.

World Vision Philippines has spearheaded the training of trainers on peace education to create a group of division level peace education facilitators.

The training covers four modules which include Getting Started and Understanding Yourself, History of Conflict in Mindanao, Challenges for Transformation and Towards a Culture of Peace. (LELA / PIA-10 / ICIC)
