Circle up Indy raises funds for ‘Rising Evolution’ – a $4 million community development program – WISH-TV | Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather forecast

As a native of the Martindale Brightwood area east of Indianapolis, James Wilson, CEO of Circle Up Indy, is a true testament to how one can change one’s life regardless of the past.

Rising Evolution: A New Wave Of Community Development is a movement that needs community support in order to help build community.

Currently, there is a $4 million housing and community support fundraiser for Circle Up Indy’s affordable housing initiative.

Rising Evolution is the idea of ​​an organization that started as a resource janitor for the community, inspiring less violence and building a stronger community inspired by Wilson and Circle Up Indy was born. Wilson has served as CEO of Circle Up Indy, a grassroots non-profit organization, for the past 9+ years. Circle Up Indy focuses on socio-economic evolution, community development/engagement, housing and community self-stability.

In August 2014, the Circle Up Indy team organized the first Youth Against Violence Peace Festival at James Russell Lowell IPS 51 School. This successful inaugural event brought together over 1000 people from the community to support local businesses in their community , and subsequent events grow. Supporters have included East Community Hospital, Edna Martin Christian Center, Indianapolis Public Schools, Indygo, Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated, Radio One and many others. Peace festivals bring together all members of the community, including health services, law enforcement, education, placement and other essential resources, while providing a festive family atmosphere and prizes and free gifts.

Circle Up Indy’s future goals are to continue to inspire others by developing more supportive initiatives that meet our community standards aimed at reducing violence, increasing opportunity, and strengthening families and community.


Rising Evolution takes a holistic approach to community economic development through:

• Affordable access to home ownership.

• Move residents from tenants to homeowners.

• Development of affordable container and 3D printed homes on site.

• Training Fundamentals of construction using a 3D printer.

• Indiana Roundtable OSHA Construction Certification

• Repair of residents’/community stakeholders’ houses and collaborative entrepreneurial development.


Through a dedicated collaborative and transparent partnership with Circle Up Indy, Edna Martin Christian Center and the Martindale Brightwood CDC, Rising Evolution seeks to address redlining, equity, social justice and affordable housing assistance in ways that translate the resources to cultivate sustainability among those the collective seeks to directly impact.
