Community heartbroken as Cork boy killed in locally named alley

The West Cork community has paid tribute to a young boy who was tragically killed after being hit by a car in a driveway.

Little Rowan Duster Bennett Lawn was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after the crash in Tralispean, just south of Skibbereen.

Rowan was taken to CUH where he tragically passed away leaving his family heartbroken.

Tributes poured in and many sent their thoughts and prayers to Rowan’s family – CorkBeo reports.

One person said: “There are no words to understand the pain and grief you are all going through. Just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this sad and difficult time.

“May the memories you have of your dear little boy bring you comfort and strength in the days and weeks to come.

“Soar high with the angels and watch over your little family man. Look out for each other. Rest in peace in your heavy home.”

Another said: “So sorry to hear about your baby boy. He seems like a really happy chappy. You will be in my thoughts.”

One family said: “We can’t even try to imagine the pain you are all going through at this terrible time. My God bless you and watch over you in your grief at this tragic loss.

“Know that everyone is thinking and praying for your whole family.”

Details of Rowan’s funeral have yet to be set, while an autopsy took place this week.

A file will also be prepared for the Coroner’s Court.

A post on RIP.ie reads: “LAWN (Tralispean, Skibbereen): 25th Jan 2022 ROWAN DUSTER BENNETT, precious son of Amy and Joe and wonderful brother to Nye. Sadly his parents, brother and his heartbroken grandparents miss Noel, Lesley and Stella, uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives and friends.”
