KC area law enforcement escort slain NKC officer Danny Vasquez to funeral home

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Multiple Kansas City-area law enforcement agencies escorted North Kansas City Police Officer Danny Vasquez to a funeral home on Wednesday.

Vasquez was shot dead during a traffic check on Tuesday morning.

“We escorted North Kansas City Police Department Officer Daniel Vasquez to the funeral home today,” the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department said in a tweet. “We proudly helped, but we are heartbroken. We hurt for Officer Vasquez’s family, friends and fellow NKCPD members. Officer Vasquez, we appreciate you forever.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Biker Unit also assisted with the escort.

“Our biker unit joined with other agencies to escort the body of Officer Daniel Vazquez to a funeral home this morning,” the sheriff’s office said in a tweet. “This Wednesday seems a bit quieter everywhere…Rest In Peace Officer.”

Clay County Attorney’s Office accused Joshua T. Rocha, 24, with first-degree murder Wednesday in the death of Vasquez.

Rocha admitted to killing Vasquez during an interview with KCPD investigators because he did not want to go to jail or have his car towed, according to court documents.
